Non-Toxic Shower Routine

Before Shower

Aloette Restorative Enzyme Peel

Once a week, I like to give my combination skin a good exfoliation session before I jump in the shower. It can be really hard to find exfoliators without microbeads (more on these in my next post!), so I instead opt for a natural enzyme peel–plus, I find they work way better! This Aloette one works really well to remove unwanted dead skin, but I’ve found The Body Shop has a great, less expensive dupe which I will also link below.

Origins Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask

On days when my skin is especially angry, I find this mask helps to speed up the drying and shrinking process for my zits. That says a lot, seeing as I don’t find much of anything helps with my acne problem. It certainly doesn’t remove my zits altogether, but I find they diminish shortly after I wash the mask off in the shower. Plus, this stuff is really thick, so one tube lasts FOREVER.

During Shower

Sukin Botanical Body Wash

Honestly, as long as it’s non-toxic, I’m not picky about my body washes. If it smells nice, gets me clean, and is cheap, I love it. I have a few that I like, but Sukin’s is my favourite. For a zero waste option, Lush also has a great exfoliating body bar if you struggle with dry skin, which I will also link below.

Be.Better Pure Argan Oil Shampoo

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: my hair loves Argan oil. I unfortunately find that a lot of natural shampoos are not moisturizing enough for my dry hair, but this stuff is the real deal. It gets me clean without leaving any residue and smells really nice; it’s awesome. For a zero waste option, I also really like Lush’s Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar.

Live Clean Apple Cider Clarifying Shampoo

On days when I’ve used too much dry shampoo or other styling products, I like to swap my Be.Better shampoo for this clarifying one. In just one wash, I find this shampoo can tackle even the strongest buildup, making it a really nice option for refreshing my hair occasionally.

Be.Better Argan Oil Hair Mask

This hair mask is a great follow up for my Argan oil shampoo. While it’s designed to be used only once or twice a week, I find my hair is dry enough that I have to use it every time I shower, and it makes a world of a difference. It’s thick, creamy, smells great, and lasts a long time–what more could you want?

After Shower

Once I dry off, I perform my normal skincare routine on my face, which you can find in my Non-Toxic Morning Routine post! I then follow up with some body and hair care:

Sukin Hydrating Body Lotion

I like my body lotion like I like my body wash: non-toxic, smells nice, and is cheap. This stuff provides me with good hydration without leaving an oily residue, and is generally awesome.

Wet Brush Original Detangler Hair Brush

My curly hair can get knotty, but my Wet Brush never fails to brush through my hair without pulling or ripping at my strands. I like the wood one for a more eco-friendly options to plastic, plus it’s super cute.

Be.Better Pure Argan Oil Moisturizer

I finish off my hair care routine by combing 100% pure Argan oil through my hair to provide it with added moisture, protection, and shine. I use Be.Better’s version, but Live Clean has a great one if you don’t have access to Be.Better products.
